Take a Step
“And behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20).
I am the One who carries you through moments when you feel you can no longer stand. I have desired you, loved you, from the beginning. I would not leave you. You are where I want to be. So, I remain close.
I remain with you.
What is it like to remain with Me? Remaining with Me is not a stagnant place. We may wait together, be wise and patient and take small steps together. But when it is time to step forward into something more, you must rely even more on my love for you to propel you on.
But I am with you here, too.
I whisper, “Go on, girl, my daughter. Remember I am with you.”
You are ever invited deeper—deeper into the knowledge and awareness of my love for you. Take a step with Me.
Remember we go together.

Do you ever find yourself avoiding the work of relationship? The inner work we do with Holy Spirit—that intangible task of digging deeper into how we feel, what we believe, what truths our hearts need to fixate on—this is the work we tend to overlook in our lives, isn’t it? Maybe because it doesn’t offer that same satisfying sensation as checking something off a list. Or maybe because it can be difficult, even excruciating at times. If you’ve been avoiding that deep work, friend, then today’s message is for you, written tenderly by Holy Spirit with your heart in mind: “It is time to care for your heart now. While you are good at action, at getting things done, not all work is created equal. The things you do that involve the inner work of your soul are what change you. You know this. Deep down you know this—that the tension of using distraction, filling your day with one thing to do after another, makes feeling difficult. … You will learn you do not need to carry your burden alone.” → From FLAG No. 15. If this blessed you, why not share it with another sister who needs encouragement?
Each one of us was created with unique gifts, specially designed by our heavenly Father to express His nature, build up His church, and show His heart to the world. To hone our gifts, though, we have to know what they are first. This in-depth assessment from Rapt can help you start on that journey, if you’re willing. Just know—this isn’t a quick quiz, like the kind that tells you which animal or Friends character you are. It’s a research-backed test with questions designed to draw you out and make you think—but the reward of understanding ourselves more deeply is certainly worth the time it takes. I recommend setting aside at least 10 minutes (or more if you love taking your time to ruminate on the deeper questions).
Too often, we get comfortable living in the shallows—in our intimacy with God, in the knowing of our own hearts, in the way we love others. But Jesus is not impatient with us. He gently, lovingly calls us out of the shallows and into deeper waters with Him—because He knows there, we find greater joy and fulfillment, hope and laughter and beauty. Before you leave this email today, will you take a moment to ask God to take you deeper with Him? Then, consider reading this article by Revive Our Hearts, on knowing God more.
