Expect Me to Show Up
And he said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest” (Exodus 33:14).
My daughter, there you are. Step towards Me, and you will find Me. I do not waver in my affection towards you. I delight in being with you.
Cling to Me, morning and night. Step towards Me throughout the day. I am not silent towards you. But step towards Me. Relax against Me. Slow to hear Me. Desire Me. I give you rest here, so adventure and faith will come.
First, Me. Nothing else. For I stir your heart in secret places, and I show you what I mean: You are not lost. You are not overwhelmed. The night comes and you know the way through, for you know where light is. You know where I am.
I bring light, child, and I am with you. I bring compassion, child, for I know what you need. I bring fresh air to breath and a new place to stand. I water the dry places and the thirsty land is no longer parched, dusty, desperate for rain.
You lie wanting. You lie waiting. You lie down, weary to stand. But I bring you rest, shading you from intense heat. And I help you to rise, the strength of oaks whose roots reach down hundreds of years.
I am more steadfast than that.
So, come to Me and rest with Me and lean on Me and you will be nourished and strengthened and hope-filled. Come with expectation of my presence. Yes, expect Me. Step out. Know that I am here.

This world of ours loves to play the siren call, trying to pull us away from our wholehearted, limitless, adventure-filled relationship with God. Even something as benign as scrolling through Instagram can become unhealthy when we allow it to steal from our intimacy with Him. So how do we handle those distractions? If that’s a question you’ve been wrestling with lately, this 3-day Loop devotional is for you and anyone you’d like to share it with. Each day is a loving invitation to engage with the One who gave everything to be with you—because you’re His girl.
“Settle deep now into the constancy of My love for you. Be fueled—your mind, your body, your ideas, your expectations, your emotions, your dreams—by something solid and lasting. Be fueled by hope. It is not only coming—something to have faith in, to cling to in the future. It is also here now. Hope is here now. Hope is here. Hope is here. Hope is here.” → From FLAG No. 64. If you need prayer this week, reader, please respond to this email and let me know, or post it in The Prayer Corner over at Loop Collective. Just know this: you are not alone. And: you are unimaginably loved.
As women, it’s so easy to get pulled into the mindset that we are not enough, that we should be further along than we truly are, that we must be different or “more” to be loved. I love how this truth cuts through those thoughts: “We can be tempted to think that we are the end-all, be-all. We can produce, perform, and persevere with the best of them, but are we doing it in the way the Lord is calling us to this moment? There is power in being still, realizing He is God, and that He is all we need.” Read the rest here, and may it remind us to find our full value and worth in our good, gentle Shepherd.
