I Love You
“But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first” (Revelation 2:4).
You tell Me, “I love you.”
And I love you back.
You love from my first love, and I fold you in. Your first love is what excites you about beginning your day, what brings reassurance to your heart, what brings a measured step and exhilaration, too.
With first love you are steadfast and eager and curious and expectant. Your heart wakes to hope—hope of being together, hope that there will be time together. You desire, simply, to be with the one you love, side by side.
When you love, you see with open eyes and open heart the look in your loved one’s eyes, the sound of their voice. When you love, you listen close for more. You are attentive and eager to absorb experiences—moments—with the one you love.
I know first love.
But I know a heart of hesitancy, too.
I know doubt—how you are made and what you are capable of and made to love.
That first love is your heart, my darling. Let’s bring clarity to it. Let’s figure out what it is.
Let Me show you what you love first and what you are made to love first and if these two line up.
There is only fullness with Me, my darling.

As someone who deals with chronic illness, K.J. Ramsey understands long-term pain and suffering. And yet she remains “utterly devoted to the joy of being alive.” It’s a beautiful sentiment, isn’t it? But what does it really look like in the day to day, when her physical body rebels and problems flare up? In this exclusive interview, K.J. says, “Joy isn’t a prize for the privileged. It’s a presence that finds us and holds us through everything.” → How does your body respond when you read that? Do you feel a rush of hope? Do you find part of yourself holding back from fully believing it? Take some time with Holy Spirit today to ask Him why.
An unusual question for you, dear reader: Do you believe there is intelligent life on other planets? I don’t usually (or ever, really) touch on this topic here on Loop, but with the U.S. government recently releasing hundreds of files of supposed UAPs (the new term for UFOs), a lot of people are talking about it—asking questions about what this means for Christians, our theology, and our relationships with God. If that’s been on your mind, too, (or if you know someone who loves to talk about this topic), here is an interesting and biblically grounded response by Dr. Benjamin Williams. I pray it lifts you up and keeps your eyes on Jesus, the One who made you—and knows and loves every part of you.
Rachel Cruze—daughter of saving and budgeting expert Dave Ramsey—isn’t afraid to say that more things won’t make you happy. Instead, what matters most is “godliness with contentment,” as Paul talks about in 1 Timothy 6:6. Our world may chase after more money and more possessions, and tell us to do the same, yet our King calls us to something so very different. Watch Rachel’s talk here, and allow your heart to settle into the deep peace that flows from the God who delights in you.
