I Give You True Gifts
“I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me” (John 17:23).
My daughter, I am the way, the truth, and the life. Whoever knows Me will not perish but have eternal life. I am the gatherer, the one who comes and brings hope and keeps you close to Me. You may move away from Me, but I still remain.
Let nothing separate us.
There is freedom in laying down that restless heart. Be steadfast, with Me. You have what it takes. I have given you a heart that, in truth, desires Me more than anything. This is how you are steadfast, this is how you do not waver, this is how you stay close to Me: when your heart is filled with Me.
Desire more of Me.
I give you the true things for which your heart desires. Truth, hope, joy, freedom—this is life with Me. In the midst of trial, I give you these things. In the midst of heartache and trouble, I remove anxiety and worry, and I give you these things. In the midst of storms and busyness and patches of quiet when I feel not so near, I give you these gifts of your heart. Because I gather and restore what is mine.
I have designed you, and I know what you need.
Let my love overflow on you. Let my gifts be easy to receive.

Every part of who we are is intentional—from the way we laugh to the spiritual gifts God has thoughtfully selected to give to us. If you’re still on the journey of discovering what those gifts are, I have an assessment that should be able to help. It was designed by researchers, and we’re offering it for free over at Rapt.
What is your deepest desire, dear one? Can you think of it now? Hold it in your heart as you ponder Holy Spirit’s words to you today: “Let’s take a deep dive into your heart. Let’s take a look at your motivations and dreams. Let’s take a look at your fears and decisions. Who is at the center of your heart? What are you holding most sacred? What are you choosing as the most valuable thing or idea or person in your life? Are you content? Be honest now. It is okay.” → From FLAG No. 48.
Has the story of Hagar ever broken your heart? Or made you angry? It’s okay if it has. God also gets angry when people—His sons and daughters—are mistreated, including those viewed as “less than” or different from us. I love this snippet from the Bible Project’s summary of Hagar’s story: “Through Hagar’s journey, we’re invited to see how all people—even the ones we’ve been told to push aside—are cherished by God. God sees, hears, and honors everyone created in His image, providing blessing and love. And He calls humans to relate to each other in the same way. Right relating, or righteousness, always heals and restores, never oppressing or shunning. It carries divine blessing to a scorned single mom in the wilderness and to all outcast “others” because God cares for people without favoritism.”
